One of the biggest signals of this shift is the opening of The Pearl Innovation District in mid-2025. With a $1.5 billion investment, The Pearl brings together research, medi - cal education, and industry creating a 26-acre campus designed to anchor Charlotte’s life-sciences ambitions. Over the next 15 years the project is projected to generate more than 5,500 on-site jobs (and over 11,500 regionally) and that’s only the beginning. But innovation in Charlotte isn’t limited to medicine.
