Tampa, FL, was thrilled to hear them play this hit from their second album. “My favorite song was I Never Told You What I Do For a Living, and the fact that I got to hear that live was amazing.” After a few of their songs, the curtains opened, revealing a backdrop of a city in decay, referenc- ing their most recent hit. The band played songs from across all their albums, including Boy Di- vision, Helena, and the iconic Welcome to the Black Parade. Bri Tyska, a fan of the band since she was young described the moment when she heard Welcome to the Black Parade come on. “As soon as they hit the G note, gone! I was re- verted to my 12-year-old state.” By this point in the night, the nostalgia sur- rounding the band took hold of the stadium, and everyone was moving to the music and singing along to songs that much of the audience has known their entire life. As they played some of their biggest hits such as Teenagers, I’m Not Ok (I Promise), and Cemetery Drive, over 20,000 screaming fans projected the songs back to the stage. After their last song, Sleep came on, MCR performed an encore consisting of Vampires Will Never Hurt You and Cancer. Using Cancer as their last song to finish out their show brought home the fact that this was one of the last times the band will be performing together. The lyrics, “Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you” pulled the heartstrings of fans throughout the entire stadium. Courtney Gooding from Home- stead, Florida, commented on this final farewell to everyone, “I think the last song made me a little emotional, because he’s saying goodbye.” My Chemical Romance – https://www.mychemicalromance.com/ 17
