21 Sometimes it is all four. Not every community makes walking easy. Sidewalks, traf- fic, lighting, weather, mobil - ity, and personal safety matter. There is no virtue in pretend- ing those barriers do not exist. But when walking is an op- tion, it can be worth choosing. Park once and visit several places. Walk after dinner. Take the longer route to cof- fee. Explore one unfamiliar block. Leave the headphones off occasionally and listen to where you are. Twenty minutes outside can also become a small bound- ary between work and home, stress and recovery, noise and your own thoughts. Awalkable day does not have to be impressive. That is the beauty of it. You move your body, notice your surroundings, and give your mind enough room to breathe. Sometimes a better day be- gins with something as or- dinary as putting one foot in front of the other. Photo by | Adrien Olichon Photo by | Boys in Bristol Photography
