Are you keeping your food deliveries hot during transportation? Don’t bring customers cold food—use our tips to keep food at the perfect temperature. Can you remember a time you ordered food only for it to come cold and unappetizing? No one wants to encounter this issue when they spend the money to have the food delivered. Whether you’re a full-time driver or do it for a side hustle, keeping delivery food hot during transportation is necessary to maintain customer satisfaction. Use these tips to ensure you’re delivering hot and tasty food. Avoid Using the Air Conditioner in Your Car Turning on the air conditioner in your car might feel nice, but it can cool down the food you’re delivering, so it’s best to always leave it off. If it’s hot outside, and you’re warm in the vehicle, roll down your window to give yourself fresh air. We even suggest placing the food in a bag and on the floor of your car. You can then turn on the heat to the Feet setting to keep the food as warm as possible. Use a Hard Covered Cooler or Insulated Bags If you’re not already using an insulated bag or box to hold the food in, you’re delivering food completely wrong. These hard-covered coolers and bags keep the food safe during transportation and help retain the heat in the food. Insulated bags are essential to delivery drivers for a variety of reasons, but they’re particularly crucial for keeping the food at the same temperature it was when it left the restaurant. Consider Adding Heating Packs or Hot Water Bottles You might do everything to keep the delivery food hot during transportation, but sometimes it will still cool down— especially if the customer is far away from the restaurant. Adding heating packs or hot water bottles to your cooler or bag will help keep the food at a suitable temperature for eating. When All Else Fails, Use Tin Foil Nobody has a perfect week, especially in the delivery world. If you happen to forget your temperature-retaining tools, you can always use tin foil. Keep a box of this tool in your car for when you have no other option. Wrapping the foil around the food will trap the heat inside. One of the hardest parts of being a delivery driver is keeping the food warm as you take it from the restaurant to the customer. Keep your customers happy by bringing them a nice warm meal!
