Thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us this evening Alex. We got a chance to hear that bomb song Live It Up and so we just had to reach out and find out more about you. Give the Ryze-Fam a few details about how long you’ve been in the game, what got you started and then tell us about “Live It Up” and how that came to be. It’s been a long journey to get to this point no doubt. I start singing when I was truly little as a way to get out some extra en- ergy and i just fell in love with it. I’d say I’ve been taking it seriously for almost a decade. It feels crazy to say that being only twenty-two but it’s hard for me to remember a time when I was singing, it’s always been such a huge part of my life and something I’ve always loved uncon- ditionally. “Live it Up” specifically was a really fun one to make. Me and my good friend Justin Bostwick sat down one day and tried to brainstorm how we could come up with interesting ways to tell the story of life. When you’re young, things are very easy, as a teenager you learn a lot about life, adulthood is a time when you really start to reflect on where you are, where you’ve been, and as you get older things slow down and you can take your time with things. It’s all one big story, my story, your story, our story. Enjoy the time we have while we have it (aka “Live It Up”) I like that. It’s cool to tell a story in that way. I like the vibe of that track. Now that’s a fresh single off your latest release “Troubled Thoughts” it’s a good album tell us more about that. Well, I tried to tell a story with just the title. It was a rough time in my life. Covid was in full swing, and the feeling of “nor- malness” in my life was fading. I used my creativity to help myself release some of the inner tension I had going on. Things that had been in my mind for a long time. It helped me move past a lot of things and by the end I felt refreshed and my love for music had never been stronger. Since I was little my goal was always to put to- gether an entire album of work, and with this I achieved a long-time goal of mine. I was proud to be who I was, and the music I had made. I had the freedom to do whatever I want- ed and it was so freeing. I could be me. That’s fresh indeed. I’m happy you found a positive way to channel what you need- ed. Now with everything being so differ- ent after Covid how has it effected your performances? It’s been hard. Thankfully over last sum- mer I was able to get back into the full swing of performing live, and to be hon- est I kind of needed it. I felt alive again. It’s good that things opened back up for live music, but I still feel we should all be doing things safely. No one wants to get sick, so whatever we can do to not only prevent ourselves, but to help prevent others from getting sick, and to do our part in stopping the spread of this virus. Very well said. Well, now that things are opening back up, do you have any plans to go on a tour of sorts to keep promoting the release this year? Absolutely! I love nothing more than go- ing out and performing live music. I want to keep performing as much as I can. I also have plans to start putting together more music to release. As much as I love Alex B. Interview by CapnBlakk 16
