Over 20,000 feet of concrete walls and 20,000 feet of catch fencing are metic- ulously installed, reinforced to absorb the intense forces of an IndyCar colli- sion. Special tire barriers are strategi- cally placed at high-risk corners, de- signed to cushion impacts and protect both drivers and fans. The track itself undergoes resurfacing where needed, ensuring a smooth, grippy racing sur- face. One of the most impressive feats? The pit lane setup. Crews construct tempo- rary garages, high-tech timing booths, and refueling stations — essentially building a fully functional racing headquarters from scratch. Behind the scenes, high-speed internet networks and data systems are installed to de- liver real-time stats to teams, broadcasters, and race control. It’s a massive effort, but it doesn’t stop there. Race weekend means ongoing maintenance. Debris gets cleared instantly, barriers are checked, and track con- ditions are monitored constantly. The goal: keep the race running smoothly and safely from start to finish. And when the checkered flag waves? The teardown begins immediately. Within days, the streets return to normal, with little evidence left behind — except the lingering memories of an epic weekend. The next time you watch a car rocket through Turn 10, inches from the wall, remember: that wall didn’t just appear overnight.
