Managers dread the day they must have a stern discussion with an employee. Remarking on poor performances or bad situations isn’t a desirable aspect of the job, but it’s an essential role managers play. As you prepare for a tough conversation with an employee, here are some tips to help you through the process. Establish Talking Points You never want to feel lost or misspeak during a difficult conversation at work. If you struggle with confrontation, writing out talking points as a reference is a good tool to utilize. Provide facts and examples of where things went wrong. Don’t sugarcoat details.
