Interview | Runway 45 Designer Cara Morris | Thanks for taking the time to speak with us today Cara. You came across our radar last month for your designs that Laurie Bond showcased in the February edition of Ryze. Tell us a little about yourself and what drew you to fashion design.
I’ve always loved design since I was a very young girl. I noticed anything visual from hair, interiors fashion etc. I was born with the instinct towards design because my grandfather was a hat designer. I also was a dancer as a teenager and loved all the flowy costumes in the performing world. I was led to clothing as an adult when I decided I wanted to work from home.
Wonderful, now many of the fashion weeks have already kicked off, will you be participating in any shows in the near future?
Although I’ve participated in some charity events my steady flow of business come from juried art shows and online sales. I try to stay in a range of fashion that is every day wearable but still something different that you can’t find in stores. It has a quality of being fancy but comfortable enough to throw on with jeans I do about 15 juried art shows every year. Traveling up and down the east coast. Many of my creations are one of a kind. All are limited edition since I am constantly hand picking my fabrics. I am very particular with the types of laces and prints I use for my boho chic styles…
