Mastodon is just one of those bands. You know the kinds of bands I mean. The bands that still seem a little larger than life, bringing a kind of grandeur back to rock & roll. The bands that have an intelligence and have something to say or a story to tell. The bands that seem to be liked by people all over the spectrum. In the past 20 years, I’ve only come across a handful of those bands. Faith No More, Tool, Deftones, Opeth….Mastodon. In the 17 years they’ve been around, their music has evolved and grown yet always retained a very distinct sound. With their newest offering, Emperor Of Sand, they’ve brought all these things together into an extremely diverse yet pleasantly cohesive and interesting concept album. RYZE-UP got the opportunity to catch up with bassist/lead vocalist Troy Sanders and talk about the album and what 2017 holds for Mastodon.
Thanks for taking the time to talk with me today on behalf of Ryze-Up. I hope you’re well, How’s your day been?
Today has been great. I had a nice band practice, that’s always good. You know, getting the band back together and gearing up for a tour. That was one hell of an intro, very complimentary!
Be sure and check out the rest of this exclusive with Troy in the April 2017 Edition of Ryze-Up Magazine!!!
